Our Privacy Philosophy

At Verse My Days, we believe your memories are yours alone. Our product is built on the principle of "Privacy-by-Design." We prioritize local storage, minimize data transmission, and never monetize your personal reflections. Our goal is to provide a safe space for your thoughts to accumulate quietly and securely over time.

This Privacy Statement is designed to align with the Verse My Days Application Specification (v2.1) and the Mindful Echo Product Philosophy. It is structured to satisfy Apple App Store review requirements while maintaining a calm, transparent tone for our users.

1. Data Collection & Usage

Journal Entries, Photos, and Poems

Storage: Your journal entries, daily photos, and saved poems are stored locally on your device using React Native AsyncStorage.

Access: Mindful Echo Ltd does not have access to your local journal data. We do not maintain server-side databases of your reflections.

Usage: These materials are used solely to provide the journaling and reflection features of the app.

Voice Recordings (Transient Processing)

Purpose: To provide voice-to-text transcription.

Processing: When you record a "Voice Moment," the audio is sent to our secure backend and then to OpenAI Whisper for transcription.

Retention: Audio files are processed in-memory and deleted immediately after the transcription is returned to your device. We do not store your voice recordings on our servers.

AI-Powered Poetry & Prompts (Transient Processing)

Purpose: To transform your reflections into poetry and offer deepening prompts.

Processing: When you request a poem or prompt, the relevant journal text is sent to AWS Bedrock (Claude).

Retention: This data is used only for the immediate generation of your poem or prompt. It is not stored by AWS or Mindful Echo Ltd and is discarded after the response is sent.

Subscriptions & Diagnostics

Provider: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions (Verse Plus and Verse Premium tiers).

Data Collected: RevenueCat may collect anonymous transaction identifiers to manage your subscription status.

Diagnostics: We use AWS CloudWatch to monitor service health. These logs contain technical metadata (e.g., error rates, request timestamps) but never contain your journal content or voice audio.

2. Data Storage & Security

Local-First Architecture

Verse My Days is an offline-first application. All core functionality works without an internet connection. An internet connection is only required for the optional AI-powered features (transcription, poem generation, and prompts).

iCloud Backup (iOS Only)

If enabled on your device, your journal data is automatically backed up to your personal iCloud account. This allows for cross-device continuity and data restoration. Mindful Echo Ltd does not have access to your iCloud backup; it is managed entirely by Apple.

Security Measures

API Security: All communication between the app and our AI services is secured via HTTPS/TLS 1.2+ and validated with a 64-character hex API key.

Infrastructure Protection: Our backend is protected by AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate threats.

Data Minimization: We sanitize and cap text inputs (max 2,500–5,000 characters) before processing to ensure only necessary data is transmitted.

3. Your Rights & Control

We believe in your right to trust that your memories are safe and exportable.

Right to Access & Portability: You can export your entire journal as a JSON file for backup or migration, or generate a PDF archive of your entries at any time.

Right to Deletion: You may delete individual entries or use the "Clear All Data" function to permanently remove all journal data from your device.

Opt-Out: Usage of AI features (Voice Moments and Poem Generation) is entirely optional. You can use Verse My Days as a traditional text journal without ever sending data to our processing services.

4. Compliance

Apple App Store: We accurately declare all data collection via Apple's Privacy Labels. Our use of voice recordings and journal text is limited to the specific features you request.

GDPR/CCPA: We adhere to the principles of data minimization and transparency. We do not sell your data or use it for behavioral profiling.

COPPA: Verse My Days is rated for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this statement as we add new features (such as future multi-device sync). We will notify you of any significant changes via in-app notifications.
