Welcome to Pause by Mindful Echo. By using this app, you agree to these terms of service.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pause, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.

Minimum Age

You must be at least 9 years old to use Pause. If you are under 9, please do not use this app. Users under 16 require parental or guardian consent to use AI-powered features that process personal data.

Description of Service

Pause is a personal journaling application that allows you to:

  • Write daily journal entries
  • Record voice notes and transcribe them
  • Generate AI-powered poems from your entries
  • Add photos to your journal
  • Access guided meditation features
  • Export your journal data

Subscription Terms

Pause offers a subscription service with the following terms:

  • Free Trial: New users receive a 7-day free trial with full access to all features.
  • Subscription: After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription.
  • Payment: Payment will be charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Renewal Charge: Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • Management: Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings after purchase.
  • Free Trial Forfeiture: Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Refunds: Refund policies are governed by the App Store or Play Store terms.

Usage Limits

Subscriptions include daily usage limits for certain features:

  • AI poem generation: Limited per day based on subscription tier
  • Voice transcription: Limited per day based on subscription tier

These limits reset daily at midnight in your local timezone.

Your Content

You retain all rights to the content you create in Pause. Your journal entries, photos, and other content belong to you. We do not claim ownership of your personal content.

Your content is stored locally on your device. We process certain content temporarily through our AI services (for transcription, poem generation, and meditation) but do not store it on our servers.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Pause only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Use the app to transmit malicious code or harmful content
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits or subscription requirements

AI Services

AI features are provided through the following third-party services:

  • Google (Vertex AI, Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech): Poem generation, voice transcription, insights, reflective prompts, and meditation audio.
  • AWS Bedrock (Anthropic / Claude): Alternative AI text generation.
  • InWorld AI (TTS): Text-to-speech for meditation and onboarding voiceover audio.

While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content.

Mindfulness Disclaimer

Pause offers guided meditation and mindfulness features for general wellbeing. These features are not a substitute for professional mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Pause is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free from harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Pause.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, providing notice within the app.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Pause if you violate these Terms of Service.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
